a day at the museum

After a thorough walk through of “Basquiat The Unknown Notebooks” and previous attempts of researching my intrigue of the artist, I left the exhibit pondering.  No matter the context of his work, every stricken out word, etching, scribble and crown, it all remains just a glimpse of his imagination and the scope of his ambition.  Yet amazingly, amidst the numbered composition pages are thoughts that keenly touch on themes of today.  Paired with additional works from private collections, “The Unknown Notebooks” becomes the ultimate curated stroll through the mind of a genuine artist whose true definition remains elusive.
